There was a woman who started out fairly slim as a young person. Through the years, she began to fill out a bit. It was at this point when she no longer listened to her body's needs. Instead, she alternated between eating too little and eating too much. She tried many fad diets with little success. As she continued to gain weight, feelings of worthlessness set in. She began to overeat during times of frustration and sadness. The continued cycle of dieting, overeating, and negative feelings about herself grew out of control. There came a point where she could no longer stop eating.
Does the example above remind you of yourself?
If so, then you should take a look at the relationship that you have with food. There are many women who face these same struggles and come out not only thinner, but loving themselves and living a life of true happiness. You can be one of these women.
So you may be wondering what you need to do in order to live a fulfilling life and develop a healthy relationship with food. The first is to develop techniques to help you control your overeating habits. This can be done by finding alternative activities that you can do when you feel like eating. I once heard a great analogy. On a plane, they always tell you to put your own mask on first, and then assist your loved ones with theirs. This is because you cannot help others unless you have helped yourself first. This analogy applies when you are developing a healthy relationship with food. Take care of yourself.
Taking care of yourself emotionally is also a top priority when attempting to get out of the dieting and overeating cycle. Find things that you enjoy doing. Spend time each day focused on what makes you happy. Begin to please yourself rather than worrying about other while you neglect yourself.
The reason that you began this negative cycle of overeating and dieting is because you were no longer listening to your body's needs. In order to heal from overeating, you must begin to develop a relationship with your body and eat based on its needs. This non-diet approach to weight loss can help you lose weight naturally and relearn what you once know intrinsically.
Your body knows what it needs in order to sustain optimal health. You must eat the foods that your body needs. By listening to your body, you can learn to eat when you are hungry and stop when you are full. This type of relationship with your body can help you lose weight naturally and regain your life.
